ABOUT THE SHIP: In the cold waters of the St. Lawrence Seaway, sometimes a person's eyes can play tricks on him. But the sightings of an old man o'war in Gaspe Bay are too frequent to be ignored lightly. At least once a year, witnesses claim to see an apparition in the early morning mists off the cliffs at Cap d'Espoir. It looks like an 18th century man o'war, heading at full sail for some offshore rocks. The "Union Jack" Britain's flag, flies at the poop and redcoated soldiers, just like the ones who battled the patriots in the American Revolution, are seen on deck. The local residents claim the "ghost ship" is all that is left of a real one sent by England's Queen Anne in 1711 to fight the French in Canada.
