$50.00
Item #AW813

Offering this hand painted Gray's watercolor titled "Luthers Mills Covered Bridge" and signed James Gray. James Gray (Jim McBride, 1931-1982) began painting watercolors for Gray's in 1972 and continued until the time of his death in 1982 and used the name James Gray on his work. This watercolor process is called pochoir. In the art reproduction process used by Gray's, the original piece of artwork was drawn and painted by hand, then reproduced as a black and white lithograph on which watercolor was overlaid by skilled artisans. As this process is no longer used all these paintings can only be obtained on the secondary market as is the case in this piece and one other I have listed. It measures 8 inches by 10 inches and includes the oak frame and glass protector for the watercolor. With the frame and matting it is 13 1/2 inches by 16 1/2 inches. As the artist died in 1982 this was done between 1969 and that date as the backing cover was used from 1969 (see photo of the back). Shipping weight would be approx. 5 pounds.
