This Southern coin silver cup is 3 3/8" tall (not including the handle) and 2 5/8" in diameter. The handle seems to have never been off (thats a miracle!). There are a few minor dents around the lower part of the body. The decoration is crisp. It is marked "Gregg Hayden & Co" and "C&B". Gregg Hayden & Co were in Charleston and I am unable to locate C&B. It is monogramed ESB and is said to be from the Sumpter Bradley Estate. Charleston Ca 1845/ ...click for details

This coin silver sugar shell is 6 1/2" and in excellent condition. It is monogramed "Date" (so it makes a nice gift even if you guys don't remember names well) or "Dale". It has an interesting makers mark shown on page 59 of John McGrew's book attributing it to an unknown Cleveland manufacturer. I am assuming ER Wait was a Cleveland retailer. Ca 1845/50.

$260.00 set of 4

These 7 1/2" tea knives are in fair condition. The silver blades are excellent and there are no repairs or cracks. The handles have many small dents. The reason for this is that the interior of the handle is a resin which shrinks over 150 years leaving a space between the silver & the resin. Each time they are dropped in a drawer, they dent. However, these are so hard to find we overlook some flaws. These were made by Albert Coles and retailed by E. Jaccard of St. Louis. Ca 1855.

This "fiddlethread" tablespoon is 8 1/2" and is not in great condition. There are some bowl dents and a bowl bend and slight bowl wear. However, it would work very well with red beans and rice. It is marked "A.B. Griswold" and with another tiny mark that I can't make out. It's a usuable piece of silver.

Now these are cool. They are tiny at 5 5/8". I don't have a clue what they are. Everyone wants to call them pastry forks, and they may be, but I think they are pickle forks missing the knife. Whatever they are, I have never seen tines quite like these. They are in great condition with no dents or bends. They are marked "J Holister" and "Pure Coin" for Julius Holister of Hartford Ct. Ca 1855/65.

They are only marked with the patent date (1861) and "Coin". Ca 1861, these are about as good as a 150 year old fork can be.
