This salt spoon is 3 1/8" and in nice condition. I think it is late 18th century and possibly an apprentice made piece. The decoration at the end of the handle is a die used to put decoration on the back of a spoon. There is no mark.

This large (8 3/4") serving spoon is in good condition. There are a few tiny dents in the bowl but no bends or repairs. It is marked "Bigelow & Brothers", Boston, 1840/50.

These dessert forks are 6 5/8" and the pattern is "Fiddlethread". There is small amount of tine wear and 2 have tines that have been bent, but they are intact and not cracked. These have no monogram on the front and a small one on the back. They are marked "O. Reed" for Osman Reed of Philadelphia. Ca 1845.

These 7 1/2" tea knives are in fair condition. The silver blades are excellent and there are no repairs or cracks. The handles have many small dents. The reason for this is that the interior of the handle is a resin which shrinks over 150 years leaving a space between the silver & the resin. Each time they are dropped in a drawer, they dent. However, these are so hard to find we overlook some flaws. These were made by Albert Coles and retailed by E. Jaccard of St. Louis. Ca 1855.

These 7" dessert forks are in nice condition. The pattern is crisp and there are no bends or repairs. There is slight tine wear but this is not excessive. They are marked "H&S" for Hotchkiss and Schreuder of Syracuse, NY. Ca 1860.

This serving spoon is 8 1/2" and in nice condition. There are no bends or bowl wear, and only a small dent. It is marked "Seymour & Hollister" a partnership in Hartford, Connecticut from 1843/1850.

This is a nice dinner fork at 7 7/8". The condition is good with a small amount of tine wear and no other problems. The pattern looks like "Josephine" but is probably "Leaf" by John Polhamous. The retailer was "S.Y. & Co." whom I have not identified. NY,NY Ca 1850.

This partial set consists of 3 serving spoons, 3 dessert spoons, and 6 teaspoons. This is a very pretty pattern,(similar to Josephine) probably made by Wood & Hughes for Thomas Goldsmith. The condition is excellent with no dents or bends. New York, ca 1850/60.

This little coin silver teaspoon is 5 5/8", The pattern is "Basket of Flowers". The condition is good except for a handle bend, but it is not cracked. The bowl is free of dents and not worn. The mark is a bust, G, lion and a D. This mark is attributed to Hall, Hewson & Brower of Albany, NY. See McGrew page 33. Ca 1835.

These 3 coin spoons are 8 3/4" and in nice condition. There are only a couple of small dents in the bowls and no bowl wear. These are probably not a set because the monograms are different, 2 with "Almira Brett" and one with "Ella" both on the back. One is marked "L.Studley" and the other 2 "D.F. Studley"(a family of Studleys?). I am unable to find their location. My New England attribution is based on the pattern. Ca 1845/50.

These 4 serving spoons range in size from 8 1/4" to 8 3/4" and all are in excellent condition. There are no dents or bowl wear. From left to right: "C. Blakeslee" - unknown, "S.D. Brower & Son" - Troy & Albany, NY, Wood & Hughes, sterling, NY, NY and "King & Bro", unknown. All except the sterling one date around 1850. The Wood & Hughes one is around 1870.

This lovely set of dinner forks are almost 7 5/8" and in excellent condition. There are no bends or breaks and the tines have almost no wear. The pattern is crisp. I think this pattern was made by Wood & Hughes and are marked "I. Stein" incuse who I am sure was the retailer, although I can't find reference to him. New York, ca 1850/55.
