This is an unusual beaker. I would call it a Julep Cup except for it's size, which is 2 3/4" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter, perfect for sipping a single malt scotch. It's in excellent condition with 2 monograms and the date 1839. There is no indication of a handle removal or being cut down, the monogram is between the top & bottom. "New York Silversmiths" has DeReimer in Auburn, NY Ca 1831 and moving to Alton, IL later. Possibly this was sold when he was in Illinois. It is marked "CB DeReimer & Co."
