As promised, our offering of American china painting continues with another plate painted by Marie Morris marked "Made in Germany" and signed. While the plate's manufacturer is blacked out, we have been able to read through the mark on a similar plate to find the name Arzberg - a well known porcelain maker. This particular plate is dated 1960. The plate has a bouquet of pink roses on a pale yellow field, accented by green trellis work...

This is a lovely 16” Cathay Collection porcelain Victorian era doll with long brown hair in ringlets and gorgeous brown eyes. This piece of American china painting is another hand-painted 9 1/4" plate, once again signed - Marie Morris (undated). The plate has beautiful pink roses with leaves fading to pale on a beautiful white plate with an embossed pattern along the scalloped band. This particular piece was manufactured with holes in the bottom rim to facilitate a hanging wire, which is already in place. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing...

This is a 6" lemon server with a gold handle and gold rim signed - Marie Morris and dated 1956. This piece has no manufacturer's mark, but is yet another fine example of American china painting. The tray is painted with rasberries complete with blossoms. There is a blend of yellow to lavender for the background. It's quite lovely. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.

Here is another example of American china painting, sometimes referred to as porcelain painting or overglaze painting. Painted on an 8" plate, this piece is signed Sommer, The first name is there, but we are unable to determine what it is, and the plate is not dated. All of the pieces currently in our catalog came from the same collection so we are fairly confident that they were all painted around the same 1950s - 1960s time frame...

Pink 12" chop plate by Vernon Kilns, a California Pottery. The bottom mark identifies it as a piece of the Ultra collection, made between 1937 and 1942. While simple in design, the Ultra pattern was a popular one for Vernon Kilns.
