Vintage Lady Head Vase
This lovely lady is the 4.5" model, which appears to be made from the Rubens #495 mold. This particular piece is unmarked, but we have a matching Rubens lady in another color. Some of the Rubens vases were ink-stamped, others have the logo and number cast into the bottom, and still others had only the foil stamp. This particular piece shows adequate signs of age to make us comfortable in stating this is a vintage piece.
This style mold was available in various sizes, and some were produced without the flower on her dress. From our research, the vases with the flower were marked #495, and those without the flower were marked #494.
This vase has some very slight discoloration on top of her hat, which was most likely a result of the environment in which she was
displayed. She was definitely not stored in a closet somewhere, but enjoyed a spot on a shelf for all to see. Under certain lighting and very close examination it appears she may have had a finger repaired, but if so, it was done very well.
