Rosé wine stencil, 3 1/4 inches high and 4 3/4 inches wide.
This stencil, used for marking cases of French wine, is a genuine 19th century metal stencil from a collection purchased in France. It has a wonderful oxidized patina which is so dense that it is hard to tell what metal was used, but a few scratches seem to show copper or brass underneath. This is a wonderful item for the collector of rare antique car memorabilia. It is a very well made and detailed change purse in the shape of a chauffeur’s cap made out of chrome-plated metal and good quality leather. The top has a detailed inset relief scene of two people being driven by a chauffeur down a country road in a vintage touring car.
