Anathema, Litanies of Negation by Benjamin DeCasseres, was published in in 1928 by the legendary Gotham Book Mart. It was a limited edition of 1,250 autographed copies of which this is number 488. There is a foreword by Eugene O'Neill, possibly America's greatest playwright, the winner of three Pulitzer Prizes for drama and the Nobel Prize for literature. First Edition, First Printing of this remarkable one-act play, written in 1941 but not performed until 1958 in Sweden and first published in 1959. Jason Robards played the lead when the play was first performed in New York City in 1964. This is a mint condition copy in dust wrapper (dust wrapper protected by mylar cover). O'Neill, considered by many to be America's greatest dramatist, won three Pulitzer Prizes and is the only American to have won the Nobel Prize for literature.
