The best book on American Federal Furniture, based on the Winterthur collection, where Charles F. Montgomery was director. He later became a senior research fellow at Winterthur and later became a curator and professor of art history at Yale University. This is the 1966 Viking edition, not the later Bonanza or Schiffer reprints which are of lesser quality.
