These are crisp and attractive cast iron Harvard bookends with the Veritas motto in a raised shield and overall attractive patina. Bradley & Hubbard made some of the best quality cast iron bookends in the early and middle of the 20th century, and these are up to snuff. They are very heavy, measuring 6 inches in width and 6 1/4 inches in height. On the back is the maker's B&H mark. They are in very good condition with the original felt on the bottoms and even retaining on one bookend ...click for details

Fine late Victorian English brass postal scale with malachite base by the renowned firm of Sampson Mordan & Co. These are particularly handsome because of the malachite which sits atop a larger piece of black marble. Looks great on a desk. B & H Yale bookends are much more difficult to find than the Harvard model; in fact, these are the only pair we have ever had while we have had many pairs of Harvard bookends. They have their original dark green paint with some minor losses, mainly at the bottom, due to age and use. This is not at all aesthetically objectionable and can be seen in the second photogra ...click for details

Very nice early 17th century bronze mortar and pestle, probably from the Le Puy area of central France which had many foundries in that era. Note the good detail in the vertical elements. It is about 2.8 inches tall while the top diameter is 4.7 inches. It is heavy and has a good patina. We believe the pestle is original to the mortar.
