Very good quality early 18th century brass candlestick with the high-domed, faceted, octagonal base which is so characteristic of French candlesticks of that period. It is made in two parts —the handmade threads joining the shaft to the base are easily seen in the photos. It stands 8¾ inches tall. It has a great patina on the underside. George II Queen Anne card table of very dense mahogany in an unusual state of preservation. It has a square-eared recessed top and a baize-lined interior with candlestands and money wells. The elegant cabriole legs end in shapely pads, and there is a wonderful mahogany-lined long drawer running the entire length. The top has particularly nice faded color. Length: 32 inches; depth, 16 inches; height: 28 inches. England, c. 1740

This is a handsome Regency period (circa 1820) breakfront bookcase of wonderful scale in warm, light colored, figured mahogany. The panels on the doors in the lower section are nicely matched, coming from adjoining flitches of the wood. The doors on the top section have lancet glazing bars on the upper part. The lower section has paneled doors and stands on a plinth. It is fitted with its original adjustable shelves throughout. Width, 80 inches; height, 87 inches; depth, 15 inches...

Two rows of elaborate piercing highlight this superior oval sterling mustard pot with its elegant body, pierced thumbpiece and urn finial. It retains its cobalt blue liner. It is fully marked on the base (the maker's mark is upside down in the photo) and marked on the underside of the lid with a lion passant and the maker's mark, which is faint. Overall length (including handle) is 4 1/4 inches and height is 3 1/4 inches. Weight, without glass liner, is 3 troy ounces and 12 pennyweights...

Auction of Fine Judaica (196 lots), English and Continental Silver, Russian Works of Art, Watches and Objects of Vertu, held by Christie's in New York on October 25 and 26, 1982. As always, a beautiful, heavily illustrated catalog -- 605 lots in all. In very good condition, with some price notations for the last hundred or so lots. Includes prices realized list. One of the most desirable New York Federal silversmiths, Daniel Van Voorhis, made these tablespoons circa 1785. They have dragon head crests (crests are fairly rare on American silver) and the best Van Voorhis hallmark (initials with full last name and eagle), and good slashed drops. They are in excellent condition with virtually no tipwear evident. They are 8 7/8 inches long and weigh 4 ounces and 2+ pennyweights (Troy). More photos are available and can be emailed on request.

This is a classic reference work on American antique furniture, referred to in the trade as "Good, Better, Best" because of the classifications used in it by the author, Albert Sack, one of the most famous dealers in American antiques. With more than 800 illustrations, it has gone through zillions of printings and revisions. This is the 14h printing from 1971 (Not much 18th century furniture has been made since then) and it is in virtually mint condition...

A superb example of a Georgian period mahogany tray, double banded in brass and with carved carrying handles. The vertical pieces are rabbeted into the bottom, making this a complex item to construct. Trays such as this reached their height of craftsmanship in the Regency period from 1800-1820 while George III was incapacitated. Condition is very good; there have been very minor repairs over time on the sides. Dimensions: 24 5/8 inches long; 15 5/8 inches wide; 2 1/8 inches high.

Beautifully crafted barley twist or spiral bell metal candlestick, nice patina. Made in two pieces. Height is 7 inches. There is a small ½-inch pushed-in bruise on the sharp top edge of the base but this is barely noticeable. Early 19th century. Detailed photographs are available and can be emailed on request.

Very good quality cast Sterling Madeira wine ticket in the vine and tendril shape made by Gorham in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, bearing the company's date mark for 1895. Being cast, this has a substantial feel rather than the tinniness one encounters in stamped labels. Maximum width is 3 inches.
