The famous food writer, M. F. K. Fisher's Translation of the seminal text by the great Brillat-Savarin in a beautiful First Borzoi Edition published in 1971 by Alfred A. Knopf. Full title is "The Physiology of Taste or Meditations on Transcendental Gastronomy by Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin." Handsomely bound in full cloth with gilt blind-stamping and patterned endpapers. Funny French satirical transfer plate making fun of the sport of fishing (La Peche a la Ligne), a very amusing collectible and great gift for the enthusiast of the sport. The caption reads: “Mais non, avant de rejeter votre soulier, regardez s'il n'y a pas un poisson dedans" Dating from about 1925, this plate is 7 3/4 inches in diameter and is marked on the back with the stamp for St. Amand Etablisements Ceramiques. Condition is excellent.

This is flyer or program from the original production of Marco Millions by The Theatre Guild Acting Company for the week beginning November 19, 1928. The play was by Eugene O'Neill, possibly America's greatest playwright and winner of the Nobel Prize for literature. This piece is in very good condition with one fold. It measures 9 by 3½ inches. Louis XV bell metal candlestick with good patina. It is 4 ⅝ inches tall with the seam from the casting showing on the side of the socket. The base and shaft come apart and you can see that the threads are hand cut. Condition is good with few of the minor dings and scratches one would expect after almost three centuries of use.
