Rare Set Antique Prints of Great Vineyards of Burgundy
$1,600
Jean Lavallé published his seminal work on the great vineyards of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or in 1855. The volume, which rarely comes up for sale (and when it does it brings a very high price), contains the history and statistics of the wines of this fabled region. It also contains nine lithographs representing the various communes and their vineyards.
We are offering four of these lithographs, handsomely framed in gilt frames with archival materials.
The four depict: Commune de Dijon, Commune de Nuits, Commune to Morey and the Communes de Brochon, Fixin et Fixey. Directly under the lithograph are written the names of the vineyards in the drawing.
The prints have some foxing, understandable with their age (the foxing can be removed by a good paper restorer, if one desires). Otherwise, they are in good condition.
The overall size of the framed prints is 17⅝ high by 21⅝ wide. The print opening is 8¾ high by 13¾ wide.
These are really special and should go to a someone seriously interested in fine wines. They would also be wonderful adorning a fine restaurant or wine bar.
Since these prints were already framed, I had to photograph them through the glass. I did this outside, resulting in reflections of the sky and some foliage. Please excuse this inconvenience in viewing them.
We have more photographs and would be pleased to send them on request.
