Charming Vintage Plate Satirizing Flying and Pilots

Funny French satirical transfer plate making fun of flying and private pilots (L'Aviation), an amusing collectible and great gift for the enthusiast of aviation. The caption reads: “-Que pilote votre camarade? biplan ou monoplan? - Ma fois, je crois fort que c’est un reste en plan.” Dating from about 1925, this plate is 7 3/4 inches in diameter and is marked on the back with the stamp for St. Amand Etablisements Ceramiques. Condition is very good. There is a slight stain showing around the inner edge of the plate and staining showing on the back but it does not lessen the attractiveness of the plate. The stain shows up considerably darker in the photos than on the plate itself. The top portion of the title “l’Aviation” was cut off when the transfer was applied as can be seen in the photograph.
