Rare 19th Century French Stencil Used to Mark Wine Case

Rosé wine stencil, 3 1/4 inches high and 4 3/4 inches wide. This stencil, used for marking cases of French wine, is a genuine 19th century metal stencil from a collection purchased in France. It has a wonderful oxidized patina which is so dense that it is hard to tell what metal was used, but a few scratches seem to show copper or brass underneath. It would look good framed or sitting on a shelf. The stencils were used extensively so there are areas of damage, mostly around the edges (which can be seen in the photograph).
