A Very Unusual Small Wall Plaque of Gun Hill on the Island of Barbados that is signed W.T. Pollard. This Wall Plaque is 5 3/8 inches wide by 4 1/8 inches high, and I do not know what type of material the scrimshaw is executed on, but it is very well done, and I cannot find any information about the Artist.
Gun Hill Signal Station on the Island of Barbados is a 17th Century Signal Station as well as a Garrison for Soldiers, and Soldiers were once sent here to convalesce. There is a Ten Foot Tall White Limestone Lion (the Lion is not shown on the scrimshaw) standing very proud at Gun Hill commemorating the British strength of centuries past, and there is an inscription that translates, “He shall have dominion from sea to sea and from the rivers unto the end of the world”.
