An Absolutely Beautiful All Sterling Silver Victorian Crumb Knife by Wallace Silversmiths in the Washington Pattern that was introduced by Wallace in 1911. This Sterling Crumb Knife is 12 inches long and the Knife Portion is 6 7/8 inches long by 3 1/4 inches wide. The backside of the Crumb Knife is marked, THE WASHINGTON PATTERN - R W (Deer Head) & S – STERLING – 2150, and it is not monogrammed nor has a monogram been removed.
Crumb Knives were very popular in this era, and they were utilized to clean crumbs from the dining tablecloth between courses. In present times, if Crumb Knives are not used for their intended purpose, they may be used to serve Entrées, such as, Enchiladas, Fish, Chicken Breast, etc., and also for serving Dessert Crepes.
This All Sterling Silver Crumb Knife has been used through the years, but it is still in excellent condition. There are no dents or dings on the handle and I found only three very minute dings on the blade, which can be found if you really examine it.
