Old Victorian Pince Nez Gold Plate Hair Pin w/ Chain

This old Victorian era hairpin served an important function...it attached to those pince nez eyeglasses that balanced miraculously on your nose. The Victorian lady could stick the pin into her hair and have the eyeglasses hanging handily from the fob chain. This old and original hairpin is still on its original card. Pin is gold plated as is the fob clasp at end. The chain is black and gold...looks like it started out black but wore off over the years. Hairpin measures 2 7/8 inches long. Card has been taped together at top. Nice early item for the eyeglass or hairpin collector.
