If you're ever awarded a medal, you'd want it to look as big and impressive as this Masonic one. It's from the 87th Annual Conclave that was held in Rochester New York in September 1900. The 3-part medal or badge is goldtone, maybe gold-plated, with enamel work on each of the parts. The bottom piece has the motto...'In Hock Signo Vinces' which means 'In this sign you will conquer'. This phrase was used by and significant to the Knights Templar and also plays a role in modern fraternal orders and secret societies including the Free Masons and the Sigma Chi Fraternity. We believe the 87th Conclave was a Mason Convention. The medal measures 2 inches across by 4 1/2 inches high. The 'C' clasp on the back is intact and the piece is in excellent condition.
