JAEGER LECOULTRE & CIE
ATMOS PERPETUAL MOTION
15 JEWEL CLOCK
Swiss Made / Switzerland Unadjusted
Caliber 528-8/
Serial # 62178
Circa 1970
This Atmos Jaeger LeCoultre clock operates using the environment. Inside a sealed capsule, a mixture of gas and liquid expands as the temperature rises and contracts as the temperature falls, which moves the capsule back & forth. This motion is used to constantly wind the mainspring, which enables the clock to run and keep perfect time. As little as one degree in temperature variation is enough to operate this clock for a two-day period. The term LIVING ON AIR comes from the clocks ability to run based off of these naturally occurring temperature variations in a room. Once set properly and left untouched, the Atmos clock will continue to forever. Truly a piece of art and ingenuity, one of the most fascinating and beautiful clocks made.
This clock measures approximately 9 1/8 inches in height, 8 1/8 inches in width, and 6 3/8 inches in depth (front to back), using full base of clock in measurements. Being a Caliber 528-8, the Pendulum has thin vertical indentations. The interior base has a lovely ripple style bottom. Face is round white with gold plated brass hands, which have black tips. This clock appears in pristine condition as for dust or debris on the inside. The exterior glasses panels/walls have no chips or cracks.
