DOUBLESWAN VASE /TURN OF THE CENTURY
$30.00
Early ceramic double swan vase.
From turn-of the century time period.
I have seen this item one time in a collectible book many years back--so I assume it was a very desirable collectible at the time and probably still is for those " in the know " of it.
This was ,I'm sure a glittering , colorful and possible extravagant vase for the time.
The colorful design is still seen here ...with the swans yellow bills...and the flowers on the front side in brightly painted blues , and greens , and yellows.Black is used as a accent color mostly to show edging to the swans feathertips..and one can also still see the gold paint used to outline the feathers along the neck of the swans and the edges of the flowers.
There is however chipped paint loss throughout the piece mostly on edges of the raised feather adorments.
Almost clay , almost chalk , more so ceramic..this pieces spans all three I think...and also a "lusterous" shine and rainbowish font also comes to my mind when I view this piece.
Aprox. 10 x 4 x 5 inches
