American Woman Cookbook. Major collectible cook book for MANY --looking to replicate foods from the 1940's era. Written by Ruth Berolzheimer---whom at the time was the Director of the very well known and respected to this day CIA.....Culinary Arts Institute. The book however is even based on a earlier title and background of another title DELINEATOR COOK BOOK by Mildred Maddocks Bently and also 2 others from the Cornell University-- Home Economics Department. Quite a pedigree wouldn't you say ? This book was one if not the most complete cookbooks of its time...encomppasing everything from the dining room table cover to tea time and after dinner coffee and all the meat , veggies and side dishes in between ! Indentation and alphabetized index on front pages to lessen having to "dig" through subjects..." soups , fish , desserts etc. Color photos throughout (I love the Petite-Fours ) I cannot tell you all the wealth of information of the time concerning foods and the preparation of them that I have read with so much interest. Quite the interesting book ! Good condition for its time some spots and marks to prove that it has been used over the 70 years or so of its life. Pages 17-20 torn. The rest of its 800 plus pages in excellent shape.
