Sgrafitto was made only 6 months 1955-1956. The technique of sgrafitto is done by scratching off glaze to reveal the underlying color of the clay before firing. Marked on the bottom Red Wing USA 4001. The piece is perfect with no dings, chips or cracks. The bowl is actually darker than photo shows...
Large hors d'oeuvre holder in the shape of a Bob White Quail. Produced by Red Wing Potteries in the 1950's this popular, hand-painted dishware pattern was called Bob-White. Bird stands nearly 9" tall. The back of bird has 30 holes for hors d'oeuvres placed on toothpicks. Condition on this ceramic piece is excellent with no chips, dings or cracks and absolutely no crazing in the surface. Marked Red Wing. I think it would be wonderful to display hat pins too.
