This wonderful oil on canvas sofa size painting is signed by well known New York artist Andrew Stasky 1930-1989. Though this is one of his oil paintings, he did mostly water colors. Corresponding with family, they believe this is one of his early pieces possibly done in his college days in the 1950's, and was thought to once hang in the grandmothers home. This Sugar Bowl is formed from Chocolate Glass in the shape of a dolphin or fish with a little Fish Finial on the lid.Chocolate glass is a pretty carmel & white swirl. It would have been made at the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company of Greentown, Indiana between 1901 and 1903. The dolphin has 10 sawtooth teeth on each side. This amazing swan is in perfect condition and was made in the late 1960's. After researching I have found the Murano glass makers are still making these swans today, but they are 200-300 dollars in this size. This one measures 20" tall and has a ground polished bottom.
