Stunning Imperlux German cut crystal pedestal ashtray
Beautiful mid 20th Century hand-cut crystal from behind the wall. The East German government owned the Imperlux Company who made this striking, deep ashtray with hand cut, full lead crystal. Upper portion is a smoky amber, and the pedestal part is clear crystal. All of the edges are beveled to prevent chiggers. Thick, heavy 1/2" walls of crystal and thicker in some areas. Measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2", 4 1/2" tall. Deep hollow bowl is perfect keeping the smoking residue in control. Keeps down the mess. Weighs almost 3 lbs. In Excellent condition with original label "World's Finest Imperlux Genuine Hand Cut Lead Crystal Made in German Democratic Republic". No bottom-wear, polished flat surfaces. It is in amazing condition, but there is one very tiny nick on one of the bevels near the corner. (this makes it very hard to detect), being ON the bevel and NEAR the corner. The German Democratic Republic (known in English as East Germany) was a socialist state created by the Soviet Union in the Soviet Zone of occupied Germany after WWII. East Germany existed from October 7, 1949 until October 3, 1990, when it acceded to the adjacent Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany), producing the current joined state of Germany.
