This is an Alva Museum Replica that was made in the 1970's. It is a Japanese Tsuba (Sword guard). Alva made a large line of high quality museum replicas, both jewelery and sculpture. Everything Alva made is high quality. This is gold electroplated, I originally thought it to be brass, but I was corrected. The original museum piece original, is from 18th-19th Century and it is signed Masatsune of Musashi. It is described as openwork design of cranes. This museum replica was made in the 1970's. 3" diameter and has the original chunky chain that is 24" with a fold over clasp.
