Greentown Indiana tumbler Co coverd fish chocolate slag
This Sugar Bowl is formed from Chocolate Glass in the shape of a dolphin or fish with a little Fish Finial on the lid.Chocolate glass is a pretty carmel & white swirl. It would have been made at the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company of Greentown, Indiana between 1901 and 1903. The dolphin has 10 sawtooth teeth on each side. This iconic sugar bowl design (by Charles Beam) was the prize-winning entry (out of 175) in a design contest. He had come to work at the Indiana company in 1897 when his employer, The National Glass Company, had bought out Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Co. Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Co. unfortunately burned down in 1903. This measures 4 1/2" tall and is about 7 1/2" long. Perfect condition with no damages. More photos upon request. A wonderful addition to your covered animal jar collection.
