Claw shaped Peruvian clay whistle, hand painted
This clay whistle is called an ocarina. The Ocarina is an ancient flute like wind instrument whose origin dates back thousands of years. The Ocarina, like other vessel flutes, has the unusual quality of not relying on the pipe length to produce a particular tone. Instead the tone is dependent on ratio of the total surface are of opened holes to the total cubic volume enclosed by the instrument. It is hand painted and has 4 holes in the top and the underside has two holes. Measures 2 1/2" and is shaped like a claw or horn . Made of clay. Comes with a leather thong with a clay bead and is ready to wear as a necklace. Excellent condition.
