A well carved and lacquered Noh mask depicting Hannya. Painted details - particularly depicting loose strands of hair but also the gilded eyes with black wash - adding to the dramatic portrayal. Two character signature in gold lacquer inside the mask and again inside the cover of the box in black ink and with read artist's seal. Also inscribed in cursive English explaining the purpose and use of the mask and the name of the presenting company (apparently a Japanese industrial company so this must have been a good will gift perhaps to a visiting associate.) Very good condition. Probably late 20th century. Height of mask not including horns, 8 3/8 inches (21.27 cm). Width ear to ear, 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm).

A good bronze model of an elephant with nicely textured skin. Probably not earlier that Taisho era. Good condition with only minor wear to the dark patina (tiny spattered white paint on one side should clean off easily enough.) Signed Zohiko lacquer tea caddy. Decoration of Mt Fuji and pine tree in lake landscape on black ground. Pleasant textures, reminiscent of Zeshin, are imparted to the surface of Fuji-san and the pine tree. Zohiko mark inside the foot. Overall good condition with a couple inconspicuous small chips to the lacquer along the rim of the cover. Height, 3 inches (7.62 cm). Diameter 3 5/8 inches (9.21 cm)

A Hirado style blue and white dish with peony decoration in the dish, cash symbols on the underside, the nabeshima manner continuing with typical comb pattern on the raised foot. The lack of raised decoration and the more muted blue may indicate other than a Hirado kiln. Early 20th century. A half inch hairline from the rim otherwise good condition. 8 7/16 inches (21.43 cm).

A mid 20th century Tokoname vase with dragon decoration. This example is a red ware production from the historic tile kilns. A dragon is depicted in low relief among stippled clouds. Extensive gilding remains on the dragon's scales and other places. Bamboo form handles. Key borders outside the foot and mouth rims and floral border under the mouth rim. Good condition. Anonymous. Height about 8 1/2 inches (21.59 cm)

A Kamakura-bori red over black lacquer plate with flowering Hibiscus decoration. Inscribed in hiragana on the black lacquered surface inside the foot rim. Good condition with some rubbing to the wood on edges of the lacquered, carved flower decoration. Diameter, 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm)
