Dutch "Delft" Tobacco Humidor Jar

This hand painted Humidor was made in Holland probably for the tourist trade circa 1920's or 1930's. The front has a colonial stockade scene surrounded by scroll work and flowers. On the back is the advertising phrase of "Van Rossems's Toebackanno 1750". The bottom is incised V.R. and marked "Hand Painted Delft Blue Made In Holland". It measures 6 7/8" tall and is approximately 5.25" wide. The sponge on the rim seal is deteriorated but the overall condition is excellent with no chips or cracks. A practical as well as decorative piece for the den or office.
