Every detail of the exquisite hand made Russian Cloth Doll is impressive. She’s wearing a 19th Century period costume in brocade fabric. Her features are delicately hand-painted and top off with a gold jacquard bejeweled “Kokoshnik” or head dress. She’s never been played with; just displayed. This extraordinary Soviet Union Hand-made “stockinette” cloth doll from the early 20th Century depicts a Village Girl. From her head-dress and costume she appears to be from the Tula Oblast region in Western Russia. She is wearing a cream linen and red costume with a red plaid over-skirt. On her feet are the traditional villager bast shoes of the time period.
