This extraordinary Soviet Union Hand-made “stockinette” cloth doll from the early 20th Century depicts a Village Girl. From her head-dress and costume she appears to be from the Tula Oblast region in Western Russia. She is wearing a cream linen and red costume with a red plaid over-skirt. On her feet are the traditional villager bast shoes of the time period. This wonderful cloth doll was made in the Soviet Union. His face and hands are “stockinette” and his face has been delicately hand painted. He’s wearing a tan felt Cossack style hat, a red tunic with side buttons and traditional Bast shoes. He is shown in the last photo with his “wife” and mother-in-law. All sold separately.
