This stunning hand-painted Khokhloma Decorative Tray can be used for serving or hung as powerful wall art. Gold, red, black have been painted to depict a large Rooster surrounded by native foliage. The back has a "keyhole" hanger and original label. A less than 1/8" nick on the outside rim is the only flaw stopping me from saying this artwork is perfect.

Handmade and painted wooden glove or candle box from Hidelopen, Friesland, Netherlands. This exceptional Box is painted with "Rosemaling"/"Tole" works floral designs in shades of green and yellow on a red background. The lid has a small lip and fits nicely on the box. Very little warping has occurred. There are light scratches on the lid and signs of wear but considering this box dates to the early 1920's, all of that is acceptable and does not diminish the beauty at all. ...click for details

This depiction of the Russian Fairy Tale, "Ivan Tsarevich and the Grey Wolf was originally pained by Ivan Bilibin in 1901. This contemporary rendition by, L. Golubeva shows the young Tsar holding the Tsarevna in his arms and making their escape on a white steed.
