Charming Traemar “Sailor” posed in a jaunty style as he holds a fish in his left hand. Glazed in gloss navy fisherman sweater, muted green pants and a terra cotta colored cap. Roger and Doreen Birkett set up Tremar Pottery in the early 1960’s in Liskeard, Eastern Cornwall, UK. In the mid-70’s they produced various people in “trade” positions, small animals, vehicles, and buildings, with invitations on the boxes for the buyer to collect the whole set. Hand thrown pottery vase in shades of brown glaze airbrushed over hand-cut stencil design of abstract bird. There is a “Native American” look to it. Incised mark on base is a “G” inside an elongated triangle. From a collection that included many pieces of pottery created in the techniques taught by Charles Counts at his Rising Fawn Pottery, Georgia in the late 1970 – 80’s.
