This early Baccarat hand-cut crystal casket/box is an extraordinary work of art. The lid is hand set in, I believe to be, a vermeil hinged framed with an exquisite reposse leaf design. Light bounces off each facet and the only flaw, if it can be called that, it that the piece is not in perfect square; one top edge is slightly longer on top than the other. There is a hallmark on the back hinge that has worn down but it is there. There is one minuscule chip on the bottom underneath the box.
