This extraordinary majolica drinking cup with a lid is a one of a kind vintage Gzhel “Artist Proof”. Many of these pieces are now in museums around the world as the Gzhel Company is no longer creating pieces such as this. Signed by the designer and the artist/painter, A. Petrov V.A. & R. Zinonov A.E. The art includes a fish and fowl theme. The intricate fish formed handle holds a stein with a woodland bird swimming in a tranquil lake on one side and “flying off”, on the other. The lid handle is a formed fish. Dominant colors are shades of blue, green and brown. As this is a one of kind, hand made piece, small imperfections are present. No chips, cracks or hairlines. The marks are translated in last photo.
