Jarko Zavi emigrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia before WWII. As a talented Sculptor and Artist his work consisted mainly of exquisitely stylized stoneware sculptures much like that of Latvian born Maigon Daga. This very textural vase is a departure from the work he is known for; the lower half is glazed in a soft blue-green as is the flute neck with natural unglazed clay center. Little is written and known about this Czech Émigré. Signed on bottom.
