The first order reference on English silver marks and makers, Jackson's Hallmarks, adds "Important Art Nouveau" to the side margin entry about Liberty & Co., whose "L&C" in diamonds, "lion" for sterling, "anchor" for Birmingham, date letter "e" for 1904-05 appear on the 1 1/4" diameter, round, bowl backside of this 4 3/8" long, weighty at .9 T. oz., spoon.

The import of Liberty & Co. is apparently more significant than the modest comment in Jackson's implies...

Price for the set of six.
Measuring 6" long and weighing 5.0 T. oz. the group, this set of six teaspoons was made by the International Silver Company.

The pattern is "Empress," dating from 1931 and is very much in the Art Deco style popular in the period.

Exhibiting crisp lines and fine finishes, they have never been monogrammed and are in superb estate condition.

They are without damage or evident wear, and have bright, hand polished finishes...
