Oval with a flat bottom, this napkin ring measures 2 3/16" long, stands 1 3/8" at the highest, is 3/4" wide, and weighs just under .7 T. oz.

Made by the Webster Company, it is stamped with the firm "WC and arrow" emblem as well as "Sterling" on the interior.

The applied edges are raised and have lined detailing. The band itself is engraved in a leaf and floral design, with the name "John" inscribed in script in the reserve area.

The condition is excellent...

Whisk brooms were perhaps more of a household staple in the past than they are today. A small brush made of broom corn, a stiff, straw-like, sorghum grass, they are rather pedestrian items save for examples such as this which has been fitted with a sterling silver handle.

A large version, this measures 10" long and is 4 1/4" wide at the end of the brush portion. It weighs almost 6.0 T. oz. total, but it is impossible to know what portion of this is silver and what otherwise...

Stamped with the cross emblem of J.F. Fradley & Co., along with the word "Sterling" and the number "1815," this solid silver page turner, aka paper cutter, measures a lengthy 12" and weighs 2.5 T. oz.

It has a flat surface, with slightly beveled edges, and rounded ends that taper from 1 1/4" across at the wide end to 1/2" at the narrow end.

Otherwise plain, it has a flourishing, Art Nouveau style "JA" monogram." The style of this suggests a date circa 1900...

A large item measuring 1 3/4" in diameter and standing 1 1/2" high, this napkin ring is also quite weighty at nearly 1.9 T. oz.

It was made by Frank Smith, whose "lion and S" emblem is stamped on the inside lower rim, along with the word "Sterling."

It is entirely plain, and without a monogram or inscription, or removal of same.

In choice estate condition, it remains perfectly round and is free of bends, nicks, or blemishes. The finish is bright, with a rich patina.

This napkin ring is a plain band of solid silver that measures 1 5/8" in diameter, stands 1 1/4" tall, and weighs just over 1.0 T. oz.

Made by Gorham, whose "lion, anchor, G" emblem is stamped on the inside, it is model number "673" which is also imprinted on the interior, along with the word "Sterling."

Dating circa 1880, it is Aesthetic or Eastlake in style, engraved in a pattern that is part foliate and part stylized.

It has a fancy, feathered script, "HMR" monogram...

The website of the "Small Collectors of Antique Silver" states that "Vinaigrettes, popular from the late 18th century through the mid-19th century, were small containers used for holding various aromatic substances, usually dissolved in vinegar. A tiny piece of sponge, soaked in the liquid, was contained beneath a grill or perforated cover."

English in origin, some makers specialized in this form, and that is the case with this example made by John Bettridge of Birmingham in 1820...

Of a superior quality to most examples of this form, this double shot glass, i.e. jigger, stands 3 3/8" tall and weighs a robust 2.4 T. oz. It has a larger measure 1 13/16" in diameter that is stamped "2 oz.," and a smaller one that is 1 5/8" across and stamped "1 oz."

It is model number "W 16" as identified on one rim. Made by Watson, the company's "crown, W, lion" hallmark, along with the words "Sterling Silver," adjoin the "W 16."

Rather than the characteristic round or oval shape of most napkin rings, this piece is essentially rectangular. It has a flat bottom and top joined by arched sidewalls.

It is a large item, measuring 2 1/4" by 1 5/8" on the base and 1 3/4 by 1 5/8" on the top. It stands 1 3/16" tall and weighs a generous 1.3 T. oz.

The bottom and sides are reticulated in a leafy design and have engraved surfaces that complement this motif.

The top is also engraved in a flower and diamond cut pattern ...
