Measuring 13 1/2" overall, this carving set item has a silver handle and guard, both stamped "Sterling," while the guard is also imprinted with Whiting's "winged lion" logo, and the handle is stamped "Pat. 1891."

A very generously sized item at 12 1/8" long and 4.6 T. oz. weight, this fish serving slice was made by Whiting, whose "winged lion" logo, and the words "Sterling" and "Pat. Appd. For" appear on the backside of the handle.

An exceptionally large, all silver, item, this piece measures 12 1/4" long and weighs 4.2 T. oz.

Made by Gorham, whose "lion, anchor, G" hallmark, along with "Sterling" and the model number "B698" are imprinted on one edge, and the name of the retailer, Boston's "Bigelow, Kennard & Co." on another edge, it is commonly identified as a page turner or letter opener, but catalogues of its circa 1900 period, label it a paper cutter.

This 2 1/4" tall, 3" diameter, round bowl sits on a tiered pedestal base that is 2" across. The piece weighs nearly 2.8 T. oz.

It is hallmarked for Turner & Simpson, of Birmingham, England, with city and sterling symbols that, while rubbed, are legible. The date letter is obscured, although the outline shape is for "Cycle XIII," which ran 1950-74.

This 7 7/8" long, not quite 1.1 T. oz., coin silver spoon has a double provenance.

It is stamped "E.S. & D.R. Burr" and "coin," for the jewelers located in the small, central Wisconsin town of Berlin. An entry in a 1919 "Jewelers' Circular," notes the death of Daniel Riley Burr at age 85, still resident in Berlin.
