Simon Robinson Parlin whose mark appears on these four, matched coin silver spoons is listed as a Norwich, Connecticut jeweler working the third quarter of the 19th century. These are all 6" long, modest weight, have a tipt end, and are engraved "S.E. Harvey" in a fancy script. They are in very good condition. The forms are excellent, with well-shaped bowls that are free of tip wear.

Gorham's Rosette was patented in 1868, the same year that Gorham converted to a sterling standard from coin. This is an early example of the pattern, in flawless condition. The design is very much of its period, with the defining feature being a rosette set mid handle. Other details are a scroll and acanthus leaf form at the end, and a lined border. At 6" long, with a 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" bowl, this is a large bonbon. It is the Monarque pattern (1899) by Howard Silver Co. (Providence, RI). It is solid sterling silver, and has an attractively pierced, scrolled shoulder serving end. This retains traces of an original gold wash. There is no monogram or removal. The condition is flawless. Form and finish are outstanding, neither showing any wear or damage. Marks are the Howard emblem, Sterling, and the number 667.

This two tine, sterling silver butter pick in Whiting's Imperial Queen is 6 1/8" long. It is all original, old, and in outstanding condition. There is no monogram or monogram removal. The tines are straight, pointed, free of bends or burrs, and retain traces of an original gold wash. The design detail is crisp and sharp, while the finish is finely patinated. Marks are the Whiting logo, Sterling, Pat. 1893, and an Old English "O."

Gorham's Hindostanee was, and remains, a popular 1870's pattern that takes its design cue from Moorish and vaguely Egyptian roots. It was offered with a variety of bowl forms. This 5 3/4" long sugar spoon bowl is one that is idiomatic to Hindostanee. It is shovel shaped with coffered shoulders. The interior has bright cutting and wriggle work.
