An original, early production item made by Alvin in one of the benchmark Art Nouveau floral patterns of the early 20th century, Alvin's Bridal Rose features a raised, sculptural in manner, portraiture of rose blossoms, leaves, and thorny stems stem on a handle with a slightly upturned end.

English in origin, this George III gravy ladle measures 7" long and weighs 1.7 T. oz.

It is fully hallmarked for London, 1793-94, sterling silver, and well-known makers George Smith and William Fearn (GS/WF).

It has a downturned, reverse tipt, Old English, handle with a thumb drop on the hemispherical, 2" diameter by 3/4" deep, bowl.

Dating from the first part of the 20th century, this item was made by Reed & Barton, whose early "eagle, R, lion" emblem appears on the lip of the bottom half, along with model number "709" and "Sterling."

A tea ball, it is egg or acorn shaped, 1 3/4" tall and 1 1/4" wide, with a 4" long chain attached to a 1" diameter ring. It weighs approximately .6 T. oz.

Produced in the greatest number between 1780 and 1840, English meat skewers varied little in form (Thomas Waldron, Antique Silver), although as this example illustrates, they ranged in size.

This pair of coin silver tongs are generously sized at 6 1/4" long and weigh 1.2 T. oz.

Each arm is stamped "F. [for Foster] Tinkham," born in Middleboro, Massachusetts, in 1803, and documented working in New York City in 1840, the approximate date of this piece, as a jeweler and watchmaker. He had returned to Massachusetts by 1855.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, where he worked as a silversmith in the 1820s, and apparently with a short-lived presence on Nantucket Island, Masschusetts, William P. Stanton established himself in business in 1829 with his brother, Henry, in Rochester, New York.

This 6 3/8" long, just over 1.0 T. oz. (32 grams), sugar spoon was hand made by Old Newbury Crafters, whose "ONC" mark and the word "Sterling" appear on the backside. It likely dates prior to 1955, the time when ONC began the practice of including individual craftsmen's symbols alongside other identifiers.

French in origin, this piece is stamped with a (miniscule) "boar's head" guarantee mark on the inside (left, with the handle facing up) edge of the bowl, with a corresponding "bigorne" counter stamp on the backside, indicating is to an 800 silver standard (something less than American coin silver).
