This 8 3/4" long, weighty, near 1.8 T. oz., coin silver tablespoon is stamped "W.R. Evans." His dates are c. 1844-1860 and he worked first in Cincinnati and then across the Ohio River in Covington, Kentucky. It has the broad, rounded, tipt end and high shoulders typical of the lower Ohio River Valley and areas south. There is a feathered script "MER" monogram on the front. It is in very good condition...

Measuring 8 3/8" long and weighing not quite 1.3 T. oz., this coin silver spoon is stamped "F.H. Clark & Co." and "Memphis." The company dates are listed as 1850-76 in one source, and Clark's working dates under that name as 1848-66 in another, with this being toward the earlier end of either of those, and certainly previous to the Civil War. It has a broad, tipt end, high shoulders off the bowl and is monogrammed "Ward." in script. It is in very good condition...

Measuring 8 5/8" long and weighing approximately 1.3 T. oz., this coin silver spoon is stamped "D. Mendel" and "Louisville" for the mid 19th century Kentucky retailer. It has a characteristic for the area broad tipt end and high shoulders off the bowl. There is no monogram or removal. The overall condition is very good, with no visible wear. The bowl is well-shaped and free of tip wear, but has some pebbling in the interior...

This c. 1865 silver youth spoon was presented to "Walter" on his "One Year" birthday according to the inscription on the front. The backside is stamped "Coin" and "Larmour & Co." for the Baltimore firm that became Armiger & Co. It is a highly finished piece that has fine engraving including feathering along the edge of the handle, and an acanthus-like design on the tipt end. The bowl has a gold wash on the interior. It is in superb condition...

Born in Providence, Rhode Island,established himself in Cincinnati, Ohio as a jeweler. He had several partnerships, one with John Gould Anthony, also originally of Providence. The dates on this firm were 1836-40. This example bearing the Rhodes, Anthony & Co. mark is a 6" long, .9 T. oz. sauce or cream ladle. It has a plain, broad end that curves downward. The shoulders off the bowl are high and pronounced. There is a feathered script "KW" monogram...

Mid 19th century soup ladles, which this piece of Syracuse, New York's Joseph Seymour is, tend to be large scale, almost to the extreme. That is the case with this which is exceptionally big at 13 3/4" long, has a bowl 4 1/4" wide, 3 3/4" across, and is 1 1/4" deep. It weighs a proportionately heavy 5.3 T. oz. The pattern appears to be a Tuscan derivative, which itself is a variant of Olive. It is double die struck, meaning the design appears on both sides...
