S. D. Brower Medallion Coin Silver Teaspoon
$ 45 each, five available
Sperry Douglas Brower was an Albany silversmith and manufacturer of repute and substantial size. Examples of his work are readily found, although that is not the case with his Medallion pattern, as instances of it are scant. In fact, Don Soeffing in his work on Medallion silver shows two spoon examples and states they are the only pieces he had seen (admittedly some time ago now as that publication is aging). This piece is a 5 7/8" long, .7 T. oz., teaspoon. It features a right facing female figure. The bowl is pointed and has a broad tip. The backside is plain except for an Old English "T" monogram, and the name of the retailer, "Goewey." also apparently of Albany. The condition is excellent. Apart from light polishing wear on the high spots of the figure, there are no signs of use.
