Small Sterling "English Sterling" Oval Tray
$ 55 HOLD
This oval tray measures 3 1/2" by 2 1/4" and weighs approximately .7 T. oz. It is marked "English Sterling" and with the number "3." English Sterling is an American term used in the 1860's and 70's, generally by the retailer Ball, Black & Co. and particularly associated with the maker John Wendt. A small piece, this may be a pin tray. It is very finely made, having a satin matte, gold washed finish on the upper side, and a polished silver finish on the under edge, and a brushed finish base. The top surface is engraved in a delicate swag with leafy drops. The rim has a rolled edge. It is in flawless condition.
