L. Ladomus (Phila.) "Leaf" Coin Silver Tea Fork
This 7" long, 1.3+ T. oz., tea or dessert fork is stamped "Patent 1850" and with the name "L. [Lewis] Ladomus." This is a very early patent date for a die struck pattern, and with a nod to an informed source on the matter, the design has been identified as belonging to James Watts. Watts and Ladomus were both located in Philadelphia. The design is an elaborated leaf pattern, offered in a period style. There is a fancy, feathered script "HLR" monogram. The condition is very good. The tines are tapered and pointed, showing but little tip wear. There is no visible polishing wear overall, and the finish is nicely patinated.
