Joseph Seymour (Syracuse) "Leaf" Coin Youth Fork
Measuring 6 1/4" long and weighing .8 T. oz., this coin silver youth fork is marked "D. Valentine" for the Syracuse, NY, retailer. A known mid 19th century leafy "Wreath" or "Garland" pattern by Joseph Seymour, also of Syracuse, it is stamped on the reverse with an "S" in a shield. This is no doubt an undocumented (at least in any of the major references) Seymour manufacturer's mark. There is a feathered script "CCH" monogram on the front. The condition is very good. Pattern detail remains well-defined and the tines are pointed and even, showing minimal wear in the form of light surface scratches.
