Gorham "Henry II" Sterling Silver Cocktail Fork
A turn of the 20th century design, Gorham's "Henry II" employs imagery evocative of English heraldry. The central element is an imperial looking lion's face surrounded by acanthus leaf detailing. Other elements include wings, a fish scale pattern suggestive of medieval armor on the stem of handle, and fruit or floral elements. This example is a three tine, 5 3/4" long, weighty at just over .7 T. oz., oyster or seafood cocktail fork. It has an Old English "W" monogram on the backside. The condition is mint. There is no wear or damage whatsoever and the finish is lustrous. Marks are lion, anchor, G, "Sterling," and "Patent 1900."
