Shreve, San Francisco, Long Sterling Silver Olive Fork
Of a singular design, this 9 1/4" long, .9 T. oz., c. 1900, olive or pickle fork is marked "Geo. C. Shreve & Co." and "Sterling." This premier San Francisco firm was known for its Arts & Crafts and hammered designs, and this essentially falls within that tent. It has a solid, four sided handle that is joined by a ball at the lower end to the two tine fork. The tines are lengthy at 2", slender, and finished in a gold wash. Apart from a slight bit of waviness in one tine, there is no visible wear. Nor is there a monogram or removal of same.
